Eczema on the Face – What to Do
Eczema is bad enough, but when you have eczema on your face it can be even worse since it’s in such a highly visible location. This means that it can affect your self esteem and confidence as well as your skin. This blog post will go over some of the ways that you can help clear up your rash symptoms so that you can face the world again.
First up, it’s important to recognise that eczema is usually the same no matter where it appears on your body. That ugly red, scaly, dry and of course itchy rash can appear not only on your face but other locations as well. This type of eczema is called atopic eczema and is the most common form of the rash.
You need to be careful not to scratch or irritate the skin further, no matter how much you might want to as this can make things worse and lead to weeping or bleeding (not something you want everyone to see when they look at your face). You may even make your skin thicker and harder (especially around the eyelids) so it’s important to treat the itch first so as to not make it worse.
So how do you treat it?
You need to keep the area’s as moisturised as possible. Make sure you use one of the creams or lotions that contain no fragrances, alcohol or other drying ingredients. There are some very good ranges for eczema skin that can be used on your face available at health food stores and pharmacies.
Next start taking a good multi-vitamin that includes Vitamin A and E in it. It’s also a good idea to take a fish oil or linseed oil supplement for the omega-3 oils which are beneficial to all skin conditions including eczema.
If you are a women then you will need to stop using make-up and your regular skin care products for a while until your skin clears up (and even then I’d be wary about using the brands you currently have in case they are the cause of your eczema).
If you want to visit your doctor, they will usually prescribe a topical cream and perhaps some other medication to help clear it up as well, but usually these are short term solutions and you want to adopt a healthy lifestyle overall to make sure you look great again.
Finally a good healthy and organic lifestyle will go a long way to getting rid of any face eczema you have – the better your insides are, the better your skin will be.
